When starting BuildWitt, access to sites was one of my biggest hurdles.
You want to take photos on our job site? Kick rocks!
Nowadays, after who knows how many hundreds of site visits across America and worldwide, I’m standing at an all-you-can-eat buffet. People reach out daily, offering up their companies and job sites. It’s AMAZING!
The issue? Logistics.
Let’s rewind the clocks to April 2020. You know what happened. Like everyone else, I was stuck in my Arizona apartment, watching the news and social media daily to figure out what was happening.
Since people can’t live without the Dirt World, every company we worked with at the time was blessed by their governments to continue work. All hail the kings!
While not much different today, I only ate what I killed back then. No hunting = no eating. After a few weeks, I said that’s it… I was visiting our customers across America.
But this is when the airlines were parking their fleets on taxiways. To avoid the airlines, I decided to drive. Angel, my only videographer then, and I drove our Ford F150 to every company we worked with over four weeks.
We visited contractors in Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, and Texas. By all measures, the trip was a remarkable success.
As BuildWitt has grown into multiple offerings spanning creative services, training software, and the Dirt World Summit, my role in expanding our “influence” has become more vital. The more people follow our story and business, the more our business grows. In a lot of ways, it’s our alligator-infested moat.
What could I do this summer to expand our influence more than ever? How could I efficiently visit a TON of Dirt World companies and friends?
I knew I had to make it simple—less airlines and rental cars.
Driving was the obvious choice. But that still didn’t offer us flexibility or simplicity when booking places to sleep every night.
The answer to all my problems? RV life!
I placed a deposit on a 25’ RV, and began plotting our course. After months of coordinating, we officially set off this week!
Not only do we visit a TON of people and projects, but the RV creates one storyline for people to follow. I hope you become one of them!
