In January of 2023, we recognized a need for a completely different industry event focused on leadership, what the industry's top companies are doing, and what the future holds.
Long ago, before starting BuildWitt, I listened to an interview with Yvon Chouinard, the Founder of Patagonia. He mentioned something along the lines of… if you don't particularly like the game you're playing, make a new one up.
So that's what we did — we made our own game. We designed the game board, carefully crafted the rules, and anxiously invited the Dirt World's best leaders and companies to join us.
Join they did… We've now hosted 1,000+ Dirt World leaders at three events, most recently a SOLD-OUT workshop at Knife River's Training Center in Oregon.
Contractors from thirty US States and three Canadian Provinces traveled up to an entire day during the busiest time of the year to join us this past week. Pretty wild.
Our programming included top-notch speakers from outside the industry, like former Navy SEAL JP Dinnell, and presentations from a long list of great contractors and companies, such as Morgan Corp, Milwaukee, Strack, Hoopaugh, Dunn Companies, Knife River, Petticoat-Schmidtt, Graham Company, and Allan Myers.
Knife River also toured everyone through what I believe is the finest private company-owned training facility in the Dirt World. They showed off their leadership program, 80,000 square foot dome, and simulated training town.
We aim to make our Dirt World events the best in the industry and the best, period. There's still plenty of work to do, but we are on our way!
A HUGE thank you to:
Our next event is the Ariat Dirt World Summit in San Antonio on November 4-6.
YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS IT! Where else can you spend a few days with 1,000+ of the best Dirt World companies and leaders? NOWHERE!
You can learn more / sign you and your team up here. And I'd do it quickly—we will sell this one out, too.

Aaron is back to read two articles from the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) newsletter in this episode.
The first article is titled A Construction Market in Transition: The 2024 Hiring and Business Outlook, based on a survey conducted by AGC. The second article is titled US Construction Outlook: Torrid or Tepid?, written by Ken Simonson, Chief Economist, AGC of America.

We visited the fine folks of Forestrack, a forestry business located outside Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
After checking out their shop and a few antique tractors, we hopped in the helicopter to visit some of their operations in the Snowy Mountains.
Wildfires devastated the area in 2019-2020. Today, Forestrack is clearing the debris and preparing the land for replanting later this year. Within a few decades, the forests will be back and better than ever!
Following the Snowy Mountain operations, we also checked out replanting operations post-logging. Once the loggers harvest each tract, Forestrack steps in to prepare the land for the next planting.
I'll see you next month! Don’t miss out!!
